Job description


Based in Aesop Hong Kong office, the Head of Finance, Asia is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and financial planning of the Asia business. This individual will serve as the primary business partner to the Regional functions and HO Finance teams and be accountable for all aspects of financial reporting and the region's financial affairs.


The Head of Finance, Asia will be the key point of contact and have a hands-on role for all Finance related matters within Asia across the organisation and support the ­­­­­­Finance Director, Asia in not only executing the overall Global Finance strategy, but further developing and leading a strong function which is sought out and respected by the wider organization for the quality of information and insights created / provided.

The individual will be accountable for leading and developing the Regional Finance team, with key responsibilities, including but not limited to the following areas:

provide accountability for all Commercial, Financial, Regulatory and Compliance related matters; lead the Finance Shared Services team to drive long term strategy, standardise and improve month end processes, and centralise knowledge base; drive and standardize financial planning processes and scaling mechanisms to support Aesop Asia's growing business; own, oversee and execute the budgeting and forecasting processes for Aesop Asia; develop financial analyses to help assess new business opportunities and influence critical business decisions; transform insights into operational measurements; highlight areas of financial risks and manage costs while balancing business needs; ensure statutory obligations (tax, audit, corporate secretarial) are adhered to; own, review and manage monthly internal reporting, cash flows, and full set financial statements; act as the escalation point for any Finance related issues encountered; play a key role in proactively identifying and finding solutions to improve the efficiency and integrity of internal controls within financial processes; and coach and lead direct reports and be the go-to resource for team members.

The Head of Finance, Asia will provide ongoing support to the ­­­­­­Finance Director, Asia and assist with various projects and tasks within Asia and will support the ongoing development of the Asia finance team and assist with the management of their daily workflow.

The position will report to the ­­­­­­Finance Director, Asia with dotted line reporting to the Global Finance Director and will liaise regularly with the Global Finance team located in Melbourne.


Key Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in one or more of the following degrees: Business, Accounting, Commerce or similar.

  • Professional qualifications: Chartered Accountant/CPA/CIMA or other recognised professional qualification.

  • Substantial experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven track record of success.

  • Solid understanding of financial management and accounting (IFRS and local GAAP).

  • Strong business sense and capability to independently drive business partnership.

  • Experiences in past roles influencing business owners and supporting decision-making in rapidly evolving environments.

  • A capacity to adapt and change within a fast-growing business.

  • Self-starter with strong modelling skills, a keen attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a natural capability to develop and maintain meaningful cross-functional relationships.

  • Proven leadership skills in managing a team.

  • A proven proficiency and enthusiasm for managing and developing junior staff.

  • Must be fluent in English, Mandarin and any other secondary Asian language strongly preferred.

  • Professional financial exposure to global retail sector is a significant advantage.

  • Knowledge or experience of working in a SOX environment would be favourable.
